Payment FAQs

What is the "One-Time Payment" button used for?

The one-time payment button is used for new account registration, legacy annual Form 5500 filings, late fees, or other service fees incurring a one-time payment for service.

For legacy annual 2024 and prior Form 5500 filings, the fee is $1,700 per annual filing.  If you are needing to file multiple years simultaneously (at the same time using the Delinquent Filer Voluntary Compliance Program – DFVCP), the fee is $1,700 each for the first three (3) years plus $1,200 per additional filing.  In addition, you must also pay the IRS/DOL late fee is $750 per late filing (capped at $1,500 if filed simultaneously under the DFVCP).  You can confirm the amount you owe with your Plan Administrator or contact us at 866-MY-ERSOP (866-693-7767) or [email protected].

One-time payments may be made by the following methods:

– Select “One-Time Payment” to access the payment portal (the button to the left) to by credit card, e-check, or ACH.
– Credit card over the phone by calling 866-MY-ERSOP and asking Cooper, our AI Receptionist, to speak with your Plan Administrator.
– Mail a check to our address listed at the bottom of our website and payable to “The SD Cooper Company.”

How do I pay to get started with the ERSOP process?

What is the Monthly Service Plan for?

We’re replacing the old pay-per-service model with a simple Monthly Service Plan. No more large annual lump sum payments followed by miscellaneous add-on fees.  Now we will have just one predictable plan that covers year-round support with better access to the service and information you want and will need.

Why it’s better…

For you:

  • Predictable monthly budget; no piecemeal add-on charges.

  • More services included throughout the entire year, not just at year-end.

  • Ongoing guidance and support instead of scrambling in one big annual push.

For us:

  • Continuous, proactive monitoring and maintenance.

  • Faster response times and fewer year-end bottlenecks.

  • Flexibility to align services with real-time changes in your account.

Enrollment in the Monthly Service Plan involves a month-to-month automatic fee paid on the first of each month.  There are no long term obligations; however, clients will need a current account to receive services and to take advantage of membership benefits and features.  We are not accepting one-time annual payments in lieu of the monthly service plan.

Enrollment in the monthly service plan is done online by credit card or ACH.  When you initially enroll, you will be charged the current monthly service plan startup fee immediately and then you will see a recurring charge for the same amount on the first day of each month thereafter until cancelled.  NOTE:  If you enroll late in the month, you will be charged again on the 1st of the next month (for example, if you enroll on Feb 28th, you will be charged the startup fee immediately and then you will be charged again on March 1st for the monthly service plan and then again on April 1st, May 1st, etc. until cancelled).

A “current account” is defined as being enrolled in the Monthly Service Plan, being up-to-date on past Form 5500 filings (if applicable), and being current (no balance due) on prior service fees (if applicable).

To cancel your plan, contact us at [email protected] or call us at 866-MY-ERSOP (866-693-7767) to speak with your Plan Administrator.  We will also automatically cancel your plan if 120-days delinquent or upon closure of your profit sharing plan.  There are no refunds for the monthly service plan.  For services which are out of scope to the monthly service plan or services which go above and beyond typical annual plan administration services, additional fees and hourly rates may apply.  Contact us to discuss your situation and we would be happy to provide a custom quote if that is the case.

We do not discriminate in the provision of our services on the basis of race, color, religion, creed, sex, sexual orientation, gender identity or expression, age, national origin, ancestry, disability, medical condition, marital status, veteran or military status, or any other characteristic protected by applicable federal, state, or local law.

All clients are treated with fairness, dignity, and respect in accordance with this policy.

Can I just continue to pay my old rate and make my same annual payment as I previously had been doing?

While we respect the frustration which may arise when things change after being set a certain way for a long time, change is necessary.  Our conversion to a monthly service plan and changing the payment model to a monthly fee is in-line with TPA (Third Party Administration) services in this industry and the change to our business model better aligns with how our clients need and receive our services.

Having a stable and predictable business model is key delivering valued services.  Changes to the ERISA and tax regulations require an element of nimbleness with a mix of proaction and reaction to ensure our clients remain compliant with their ROBS program.  We also provide additional value with guidance and other included services to help you leverage your profit sharing plan to build a successful business and to grow your retirement plan.  The flexibility and predictability we achieve with a reliable business model further helps us to deliver those types of services as well as structuring an easy, predictable, and inclusive service with a manageable budget for you and your business.

There may be the occassion where one-time payments are necessary or make sense and we will address those situations with you on a case-by-case basis.  Our intention is to provide quality services.  We recognized that historical and traditional ROBS business clients were being left out or left behind when it came to building successful businesses.  There is very little advice and a lot of misinformation circulating the web and among the so-called “gurus” about what the ROBS program is, how to use it, and how to develop a growth and exit strategy with it.  That’s the difference we offer and that’s why we updated our services with the new business model and in order to deliver those services, we also had to change the way we billed for services.

For our legacy clients who are accustomed to paying a lower one-time annual payment, we have been offering you a discounted rate along with a price-lock guarantee to help with the transition and to recognize your loyalty while bring you more value.  If you have questions, please reach out to us and we will be happy to help.
